Mysticism can have different understandings depending on context, yet generally refers to the concept that individuals can directly experience the Sacred (many signifiers can be inserted here: God, the Divine, Transcendent reality, all that is…). It is also simply the touching into realities “beyond perceptual or intellectual apprehension that are directly accessible by subjective experience.”

What I’ll share in this class are the teachings of Paul Goodberg, one of my mentors, who imparts skills and knowledge on what he calls “Activist Mysticism.” While there are different roads to develop a relationship with the Sacred, we’ll mainly focus on Nature as a doorway. We’ll dive into Paul’s teachings and skill development in four hour-long ZOOM classes. They will be partially about me sharing info (concepts and ways of relating to/taking in his teachings) and setting the scene in the initial class, while later classes will also include group discussion and sharing experiences.

The main teaching will be from Paul himself via recordings and one of his (short yet mighty) books. The majority of this learning will be self-directed and at your own pace; there won’t be a hardcore curriculum to keep up with, rather suggestions. The recordings are also on the short side, and oddly carry the energy of his transmissions which include both healings and nonverbal teachings, or "gifts of capacity.” A real depth of your learning will come from listening to the recordings and in direct experience with nature. The main teachings we’ll touch on revolve around listening to what wants to be known; embodied connection to the natural world, including the earth and stars; reprocity, witnessing, and mirroring. You can go as deep as you’d like with this material. Spending time in nature will be very helpful to this venture! Classes will be recorded (in case you miss or would like to review).
